Locust Hill Golf Course – Charles Town

Locust Hill Golf Course is located in historic Charles Town, in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. The North Course reopened after an extensive reconstruction effort – which transformed the course into one of the premier championship length golf courses in the North Bay. The North 18 holes are a first-rate public golf course able to compete on price and quality of greens and course conditions with anyone in our region. The new design for the North Course promotes golfer-friendliness, but can offer the most skilled golfer multiple challenges if he or she chooses to take the necessary risks. If you're a golfer who enjoys a good test of golf, the North Course can give you that tournament quality experience. Welcome to Las Positas Golf Club, a Robert Muir Graves design opened in 1966. A 27 hole facility located in the Livermore Wine Country. The Signature 18 hole Course is a par 72 stretching a very walkable 6,723 yards. The Las Positas Golf Course celebrated their 20th Rally Anniversary on October 12, 2016, with the Women's Golf Club. Since 1997 the asparagus-growing community of St. Leon-Rot has a golf-course within its district, which not only conveys the vastness of the Rhine plain but also a pleasant golf experience, as it is favoured by the warm climate with low rainfall. When building this course great importance was attached to the fact that this sports place harmoniously fits into the landscape and for which the ecological factor also plays a large role. While many holes are designed with a direct line-of-sight from the teeing ground to the green, a hole may bend either to the left or to the right. This is called a “dogleg”, in reference to the similarity to a dog's ankle. The hole is called a “dogleg left” if the hole angles leftwards, and a “dogleg right” if the hole angles rightwards. A hole's direction may bend twice, which is called a “double dogleg”. The game is played the same way as golf, except players use a soccer ball instead of a golf ball, and the ball is kicked rather than struck with a club, working towards a 21-inch “cup” in place of the usual golf hole. Through the years many improvements were made to the golf course by the town's Highway Department personnel. Adding and repairing bridges, cart paths, drainage and stonewalls were all part of their efforts. In 1999, the Town of Haverstraw hired architect Stephan Kay to further improve the course. New bunkers, tees and a total redesign of several holes took place. Improving playability, safety, aesthetics and speed of play were the goals of the project. Construction began in 1999 and was completed by the spring of 2003. Famous links courses include the Old Course at St. Andrews , often described as the “Home of Golf”, and Musselburgh Links , which is generally regarded as the first recorded golf course. The Open Championship , the oldest of golf's major championships, is always played on a links course. 10 Links and links-style golf courses have been developed throughout the world, reproducing the broken, treeless terrain with deep bunkers of their Scottish prototypes. Welcome to Indian Creek Golf Course, your number one option for a round of golf in Hood River, Oregon. We are centrally located just 50 miles east of Portland International Airport in Oregon's Mid-Columbia region. Just follow the waterfalls along the Columbia River on I-84 East and you'll soon enter into the first National Scenic Area in the United States. Our full-service facility is situated in the beautiful Hood River Valley, where it is surrounded by orchards and wineries. Golfers at Indian Creek enjoy spectacular views of Mt. Hood to the south and Mt. Adams to the north. Views of the majestic snow capped peaks follow players throughout the entire course. Our club is a strong tradition, and the name Indian Creek comes from one of three meandering creeks that pose interesting challenges on many of the holes. This is a must-play course.
The renovation included new turf grass, green complexes, elevations, irrigation, drainage, cart paths, greens and a full clubhouse renovation. Harder or easier courses may have longer- or shorter-distance holes, respectively. Terrain can also be a factor, so that a long downhill hole might be rated par 4, but a shorter uphill or severely treacherous hole might be rated par 5. Tournament players will usually play from a longer-distance tee box (the Championship or Tournament tee) that is behind the standard men's tee, which increases the typical distance of each par; a par-3 hole can be up to 290 yards (270 m), and longer par-4 holes can measure up to 520 yards (480 m), which can also be accomplished by converting a par-5 hole into a long par-4 hole for tournament players. This compensates for the generally longer distance pro players can put on tee and fairway shots as compared to the average “bogey golfer”. Home of the Jim Kelly Celebrity Classic. Our mission is to provide an exceptional yet challenging public golf experience by combining our pristine course conditions with affordable greens fees, thus creating an outstanding value. The careful language from the new city manager hints at the delicate path ahead in the coming days as González floats the possibility of renting at least a sizable portion of Miami's largest park and a public 18-hole golf course to a for-profit soccer stadium and commercial complex. If embraced by city commissioners and championed by Mayor Francis Suarez, Melreese could offer the Beckham group an exit route from the Overtown plan the Mas brothers inherited when they joined the partnership late last year.
Melreese is not a revenue generator for the city. With a $3.5 million budget in the current fiscal year, city administrators expect the golf course to break even. Noted for its meticulous condition, layout, heated driving range and amenities, the facility gets rated the #1 public golf course in Fairfield County year after year. Brookview Golf Course offers an 18-Hole Regulation Course and a 9-Hole Par 3, a driving range and teaching area, and a golf shop and grill. Brookview's Regulation Course is a challenging, mature course with some tree-lined fairways, 28 moderate bunkers, fairly small greens, and an abundance of water hazards. Bassett Creek flows through the course, crossing six holes. A “9-hole course”, typically the type referred to as an “executive course”, has only 9 holes instead of 18, but with the otherwise normal mix of par-3, par-4 and par-5 holes (typically producing a par score of between 34 and 36), and the course can be played through once for a short game, or twice for a full round. Holes often include hazards, which are special areas that have additional rules for play, and are generally of two types: (1) water hazards, such as ponds, lakes, and rivers; and (2) bunkers, or sand traps. A “par-3” course has either 9 or 18 holes, and the distance of each hole is a par 3 rating (typically 240 yards or less from the “men's” tee), with no par-4 or par-5 holes mandating shots through the green (though, occasionally, a “par-3” course may feature a par-4 or even a par-5 hole). As a result, the total par for 18 holes of a par-3 course would be 54 instead of a typical 68-72. Some par-3 courses still require the use of a wood on some tee shots, and thus a “complete” set of clubs is used.
